John Paine House, Thomaston, ca. 1950
Thomaston Historical Society
Shortly after his arrival in 1805, John Paine built a stately two-and-a-half storey house on a hill overlooking the George's River. He built wharves on the river and had a very successful shipping business for several years. He carried on a successful trade in a store on the site of the Prison Store at the corner of Wadsworth Street.
