Ammunition Case

The origins of this ammunition case are unknown. We could assume that it was taken from a soldier who fell during battle and was taken to Thomaston, Maine. Of course, we can never be sure. The case holds no name, no information, and no hint of evidence as to where it came from. We do not know what battle it was used in, but we know that it belonged to a soldier. A soldier whose name goes untold, and we know that there is a story behind the case that we will never be able to obtain. Ammunition cases were widely used in the Civil War era, so narrowing soldiers down is near impossible.
Since no battles actually occurred in Maine, we can assume it was gathered from a battle like Bull Run. This battle occurred in Manassas, Virginia on July 21st, 1861. The Union army lost 460 soldiers, all of which probably carried ammunition cases.
